First,
I have to mention that the main purpose of testing,
assessing, and evaluating is to measure the competences that our students
have achieved in a given period of study, based on all the topics taught, with
the educational experiences that we have facilitated as the educators.
Therefore, these 3 educational processes, allow us to know if the objectives of
the curriculum we are teaching have been achieved.
Assessment for
me is the process that allows me to collect valuable information about the
learning process of my student. For example: verify if the methodology I am
using in English teaching is suitable to my students and know if they are
learning something with this.
On
the other hand, evaluation for me is
the process of correcting the errors of my students based on evaluation
criteria and my main objective in learning. For example: offer the student the
opportunity to perform some learning activity again, after having known their
weaknesses on the subject.
Testing for
me, is the process of examining the general knowledge of the student based on
all that has been taught in a period of time and allowing him to move to
another level of education. For example: the tests that are applied to the
students at the technological university to be able to study an engineering or
a bachelor's degree.

The type of assessment I frequently use is assessment as
learning, because what I like most in my students is the autonomy and that they
understand we have to raise awareness for ourselves, through the various
activities, that learning is very important and necessary. I also try to
involve them in their development and progress in knowing, thinking and
communicating within the context of school (Gotlieb). I think that using this
type of assessment, my students tend to be more responsible with their
learning, knowing that it has multiple facets, but that one of the most important
things is learning for ourselves. This allows us to be able to solve any kind
of situation in our daily lives without any problem. Also, this type of
assessment is done minute by minute, day by day, which allows us as educators
to know closely the evolution that is having the student and how we can
continue guiding them.
Answering the second question and according to Gotlieb's
document, I can say that in my educational journey I have been using assessing
as and for learning. Since I have always tried that my students work as a team
to help each other and contribute their knowledge to the work group. However, I
know that in our lives we need to dominate most of the contents individually to
defend ourselves. That is why despite the fact that I involve them in teamwork,
I try them to acquire the learning individually, making several formative
processes to know the strengths and weaknesses of my students in certain areas.
On the other hand, from the beginning of my formation as an educator, my
professors taught me that being a teacher involves many functions within the
teaching and learning process. That is why I always try to have my students see
me as a guide, facilitator, coach, etc., of the learning. Giving them enough
confidence to express their ideas and doubts about any topic that we are
studying. In this way, I know easily as a teacher, what are the strongest
weaknesses of my students and what strategies should I use to help them move
forward and develop their competences.
